Hurricane Harvey Recovery: Help Now

Humanist Disaster Recovery is now raising funds to assist those most in need in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The ground in the region is already saturated from the wettest August on record and some areas are expected to receive more than 30 inches of rain with no place for that water to go. Meteorologists and experts in disasters have forecasted the effects of Harvey will be unprecedented in many areas and recovery organizations are already mobilizing.

 

FBB has two staff members, including Executive Director Noelle George, whose homes are threatened at this time. Noelle has said she is committed to being our eyes and ears on the ground as she faces this event with her community.

 

All Hands Volunteers (AHV) has been chosen as the first beneficiary for Hurricane Harvey Humanist Disaster Recovery (HDR) funding. AHV has a proven track record in assisting with disaster recovery in the Houston area, as the organization worked with Fort Bend County residents affected by flooding in 2016. FBB has thoroughly vetted AHV, who received a HDRD grant last year for recovery efforts related to Louisiana flooding.
