With your help, we have raised close to $1 million for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society!

In 2012, we set a record for first-year non-corporate fundraising by raising $430,000 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society through their Light The Night walks. Just in time for fundraising to begin for the 2014 Light The Night walk season, we’re thrilled to announce that we have reached our $500,000 fundraising goal for 2013! Thanks to  hundreds of walkers and donors, national allies and supporters, and the generous matching grant and incentives from the Stiefel family and Stiefel Freethought Foundation, we have raised over $930,000 in the last two years!

Our 2013 incentive winners were:

For total dollars raised:

  1. Biologics
  2. Triangle Freethought
  3. Center for Inquiry- LA

For dollars per walker:

  1. Biologics
  2. Freethought Dayton
  3. Center for Inquiry- LA

For virtual teams

  1. Freethought Blogs
  2. Skepchick
  3. Friendly Atheist

Finally, UGA SSA won the student award for total dollars raised; Illini Secular Student Alliance won the student award for dollars per walker; and Harvard Humanists won the Home Office Award for total dollars raised.

In addition to grants provided by Stiefel Freethought, incentive winners will be honored at the Heart of Humanism ceremony at the Humanism at Work conference in Chicago this July! Congratulations to all of our winners!

In 2014, we think Light The Night has become an annual tradition for many local teams and we’re ready to see how much momentum we’ve built. Our 2014 goal is 100 teams, 1000 walkers, and $100,000. Please join us! If you had a team last year, just ask your local chapter to sign you back up. If you need to start a new team (make sure you include “FBB” in the name!) or are a new walker, please go to the International Team page to find out more.
