November Team of the Month: Minnesota Atheists

By

Congratulations to Beyond Belief Network’s November Team of the Month: Minnesota Atheists! Minnesota Atheists is currently a Level One BBN team. This team was chosen for Team of the Month recognition because of their commitment to helping those in need, their regular service event schedule at local organizations, and their interest in improving their community.

Among their regular service events, Minnesota Atheists volunteers at The Food Group, formerly  Emergency Foodshelf Network, a local hunger relief nonprofit. The Food Group serves people with different diets including vegetarians and vegans. So far, the team has sorted and repackaged over 4,689 lbs. of donated food products at the The Food Group’s warehouse.

Minnesota Atheists also removes litter from a section of a local highway that's been handled by atheists for years.

Earlier this month, Minnesota Atheists held their first-ever fundraiser for Camp Quest. Camp Ques encourages kids, ages 8-17, to engage in rational inquiry, free speech and respect. At the Halloween party the team hosted, they provided table games, food and children's activities. They also organized a raffle and silent auction.

Beyond Belief Network again congratulates Minnesota Atheists for receiving this honor and wishes them continued success in their endeavors.

Team of the Month recognition is a benefit provided by Foundation Beyond Belief to our Beyond Belief Network teams. In order to be considered, your group must be a Level One Beyond Belief Network team and you must submit at least one event report during the month. Team of the Month selection is based on the number, length, variety, and documentation (e.g., submitted pictures, blog posts, videos, etc.) of events.

Teams can only be Team of the Month once per calendar year. If your local group does great service work, but isn’t a member of BBN, you can join anytime! In addition to recognition, your team can qualify for free t-shirts and grants. If your local humanist group doesn’t volunteer, but you’d like to start, we’d love to help! For teams new to secular service, we offer tons of ideas, event guides, and advice.
