We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational and charitable secular humanist foundation acquiring and dispersing charitable donations to eligible nonprofits and organizing volunteer and other service activities.

Foundation Beyond Belief is currently seeking an Executive Director to join our team!

Under the direction of the board of directors, the executive director is responsible for overall management and operation of the organization and protection of the organization’s financial assets while ensuring compliance with board directives and applicable grantor, federal, and state requirements.

Salary: $50,000 - $60,000 / year - depending on experience

Benefits:

Responsibilities:

  • Oversees all accounting functions including those necessary for auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, capital asset, and property management and payroll in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and all other applicable rules, laws, and guidelines.
  • Handles all aspects of human resource management including but not limited to hiring and termination, developing position descriptions, setting compensation, and applying for board-approved employee policies and benefits in accordance with federal and state requirements.
  • Interacts with personnel, government entities, legal counsel, businesses, other organizations, and individuals in regard to matters affecting the organization.
  • Is responsible for grants and contracts management; coordinates with legal advisors to finalize agreement terms; monitors the progress of agreements and maintains agreement documentation to ensure fulfillment of agreement terms including receipt and expenditure of funds.
  • Assists in the development of current and long-term organizational goals and objectives as well as policies and procedures for the organization’s operations. Establishes plans to achieve goals set by the Board of Directors and implements policies, subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Works closely with staff members to ensure they are provided with appropriate support systems and responsive, quality service in the areas of grant preparation, project accounting, human resources, purchasing, and related administrative functions.
  • Ensures the maintenance of an equitable and humane organizational culture.

Qualifications:

  • Business Degree (preferred)
  • 3+ year(s) of non-profit sector experience
  • 3+ year(s) of Leadership/Management (non-profit sector) experience
  • 3+ year(s) of Fundraising experience
  • 3+ year(s) of Proposal Writing experience
  • 3+ year(s) of Professional Presentations experience

Competencies:

Management: Maintains effective systems of internal controls to account for all receipts and expenditures of funds.

Job Knowledge: Understands the technical aspects of managing a nonprofit organization; provides advice to staff directly and/or solicits guidance from experts. Understands the duties and responsibilities of the position and keeps job knowledge up-to-date.

Initiative in fulfilling the goals of the organization: The executive director exercises independent discretion in carrying out their duties. Recognizes and brings to the attention of the board chair issues that affect the organization, and implements plans to reach organizational goals as determined by the board of directors. Displays initiative in developing action plans and resolving problems as they occur, in consultation with the board chair and other members of the board.

Communication: Communicates effectively with staff, board members, followers, donors, and partnering organizations, including:

  • Written communications that are clear and professional;
  • Written reports and proposals that are well-researched, data-driven, and that outline specific strategies, goals, and KPIs;
  • Well-organized and compelling presentations and briefings to the board of directors, donors, partner organizations, and other parties;
  • Well-organized and compelling presentations at conferences and other organized events;
  • Proficiency in using digital communication platforms, such as Slack and Google Drive, as well as project management tools.

Dependability:

  • Meets deadlines handily;
  • Is conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable with respect to achieving the organization’s goals;
  • Is available and responsive to issues and concerns as they arise.

All volunteer positions are virtual. The hours are flexible and most meetings can be scheduled on a flexible basis. It is helpful be available to meet and work with others during Central Time (US).
