NJHN is a community of secular humanists that was founded in 1994. The nontheistic philosophy or lifestance of secular humanism embraces human reason, ethics, social justice, and philosophical naturalism, affirming that humans have the right and responsibility to give meaning and shape to our own lives.

We are committed to the application of reason and science to the understanding of the universe and to the solving of problems through our common experience, civic engagement, and compassion.  We support progressive ideals and encourage lifelong learning and respect for the natural world and our human diversity.

We host programs that support our educational, political and social goals. We are a chapter of the American Humanist Association, based in Somerset County, and we also have local groups in Mercer and Gloucester Counties. We are also a co-sponsor of the Humanist Community at Rutgers University.

Our goal is to connect nonreligious New Jerseyans with a Humanist group in their area, or help build one.
