The Humanist Association for Leadership, Equity and Accountability (HALEA) is a grassroots not for profit, secular organizations registered on the 19th day February 2008 and launched on the 19th day of March 2008 at Kampala Students Centre by Mr. Gunnar Olefsen of HAMU Norway. HALEA is an off-shot of UHASSO which is the mother organization of all Humanists organizations in Uganda. HALEA is a member-based organization. It was founded by 24 professionals that include lawyers, journalists, teachers and social workers.

HALEA was established to advance humanism values and principles to positively contribute to among other objectives; the empowerment of marginalized, victimized and forgotten members of society and solving human problems through the application of reason and science.

HALEA is responding to an important need through its efforts to help people help themselves live a better life. We are located in Kampala, Uganda based in Kagugube parish, one of the worst slum areas in Uganda.
