Transgender Law Center (TLC)

By

TLC-logoTransgender Law Center (TLC) is a legal services nonprofit based in the San Francisco Bay Area, running one-on-one legal clinics for transgender and gender nonconforming people. They focus on aiding those who are low-income, people of color, and/or Spanish speaking. There is a free monthly drop-in clinic at local transgender community centers, where attorneys and law students offer information and legal services on issues including discrimination in employment and housing, trans-related medical care, immigration and public benefits. TLC runs a legal helpline for callers nationwide and refer them either to their own staff attorneys for individual legal advice and other resources to address issues of discrimination and civil rights.

TLC’s online resources are expansive and they provide studies and publications free of charge for download on their website. They are well respected within the LGBTQ advocacy community, evidenced by their numerous connections with many other advocacy and aid organizations. Locally, TLC partners with several community centers and law schools to deliver services.
