FBB wins chance to award grant to current beneficiary

Foundation Beyond Belief is pleased to announce that AJ Chalom, Foundation Beyond Belief’s Humanist Giving Program Coordinator, was able to secure an additional grant for Global Village Project, FBB’s 2015 Q4 Education Beneficiary.

This fall, Tom’s of Maine, a company with a natural personal care products line, held a grant giveaway contest.  The 50 States of Maine program encouraged people in the United States to tweet #onewaytohelp.  Each tweet was an entry into a drawing the prize of which was a chance to nominate a non-profit in a particular state to receive a $20,000 grant.  While originally the goal was to nominate FBB, once it was made clear  that national organizations were not eligible, the focus shifted to local beneficiaries.

Chalom was selected to nominate a local non-profit in the State of Georgia. According to Chalom, “They asked me for three nominations.  I immediately looked at FBB’s current beneficiary Global Village Project, as well as former Foundation Beyond Belief beneficiaries, to determine their eligibility.  There was no doubt that this selection was not about my ability to choose a nomination, but about my connection to Foundation Beyond Belief and to our beneficiaries. I am ecstatic that I was able to personally aid in Global Village’s additional $20,000 grant from Tom’s of Maine. They are a dynamic, deserving school that is reshaping education for students who have been unschooled in their previous educational opportunities”
