Congratulations to Beyond Belief Network’s August Team of the Month: Fellowship of Freethought Dallas! Fellowship of Freethought Dallas recently reached Level Three. This team was chosen for this recognition because of the variety of their service events, their high level of team organization, and their strong commitment towards improving their local community.

Fellowship of Freethought Dallas is notable as an environmentally conscious team. Each month, they remove litter from a designated area of White Rock Lake in Dallas, TX. They work in cooperation with an organization called For The Love Of The Lake, which promotes local conservation and recycling efforts to keep White Rock Lake and its surroundings clean and beautiful for public use. Every other month, Fellowship of Freethought Dallas also participates in the Texas Department of Transportation's Adopt-A-Highway program. With supplies provided by the TDOT, Fellowship of Freethought Dallas removes litter from a designated two-mile stretch of Northwest Highway to clean on a regular basis.

Fellowship of Freethought Dallas also provides a meal once a month for the Supper Club program of AIDS Services of Dallas. AIDS Services of Dallas is a 501(c)3 organization that provides medically supportive housing to low-income persons living with HIV/AIDS. The Supper Club program provides residents with a hot, nutritious, home-cooked meal every night.

This team is committed to helping those in need. During Easter, Fellowship of Freethought Dallas collected items to help Community Partners of Dallas Easter Basket Drive provide Easter baskets to 2,000 abused and neglected children.  Recently, the team assisted a local elderly resident who had had a brain tumor removed. Team members raised $1,000 to remove and rebuild a fence on her property.

Beyond Belief Network is proud of Fellowship of Freethought Dallas’s efforts and wish them continued success.

Team of the Month recognition is a benefit provided by Foundation Beyond Belief to our Beyond Belief Network teams. In order to be considered, your group must be a Level One Beyond Belief Network team and you must submit at least one event report during the month. Team of the Month selection is based on the number, length, variety, and documentation (e.g., submitted pictures, blog posts, videos, etc.) of events.

Teams can only be Team of the Month once per calendar year. If your local group does great service work, but isn’t a member of BBN, you can join anytime! In addition to recognition, your team can qualify for free t-shirts and grants. If your local humanist group doesn’t volunteer, but you’d like to start, we’d love to help! For teams new to secular service, we offer tons of ideas, event guides, and advice.
