ATXHAW prepare for November giveaway

By

Austin Humanists at Work (ATXHAW) will be having their next monthly giveaway on the morning of November 20 in downtown Austin, TX. They hand out basic living items such as toiletries, clothing, shoes, books, bags, and all kinds of accessories to the homeles and others who fallen on hard times or just may need a little help. Everyone is welcome to come join them to help or to donate. The group meets in the 8th Street parking lot, under the Interstate 35 overpass. Set up is in the northwest corner of the parking lot, closest to the Austin Police Department headquarters and parking is available right in the lot where they set up. Announcements and set up will begin at 8:40 am, the giveaway line opens at 9 am sharp, and they wrap up by 10 am.

ATXHAW giveaways happen once a month, generally on the third Sunday. Dates are announced on their website and social media. If you’re bringing items, please drop them off at the truck so they can be logged in before distribution. If you’re staying to help them, great! Please click here to read a short PDF document before you arrive. Once there, look for one of the volunteers wearing a yellow bandana and they will point you in the right direction.

Donations are accepted prior to the event and on-site. There is a "traffic light" shopping guide that is continuously updated on the website as donations come in and go out so those who wish to donate items can see what is most needed at any time.

If you have a donation that you’d like for them to pick up in the Ausin area, please email donations@austinhumanistsatwork.org. They have volunteers all over the Austin metro area that will be happy to make arrangements that work with your schedule.

If you’re not in the Austin area, or prefer to order your donation online, you can visit their Amazon Wish List. If you click Filter & Sort, then Priority, the list will match the traffic light guide: High Priority = Green Light, Medium Priority = Yellow Light, and Low Priority = Red Light.
