Foundation Beyond Belief (FBB) is proud to announce that we are a "Special Friend" team partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for their Light The Night Walks. We will be the rallying point around which local freethought, atheist, and secular humanist groups will form teams to participate in Light the Night Walks.
Incentives courtesy of Stiefel Freethought Foundation
Foundation Beyond Belief is striving to raise $500,000 in 2013 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night Walk. LLS will provide rewards and recognition directly to individual fundraisers. Thanks to a grant from the Stiefel Freethought Foundation, FBB will be providing incentives to national and local freethought organizations to encourage and thank them for participation in this project.

Local Team Incentives
FBB will be awarding recognition plaques to top local teams and $19,000 in reward grants that top local teams will be able to direct to qualifying freethought groups of their choice. Local teams that are a part of the FBB international team will each receive an award plaque and be able to direct the indicated cash prize:
Total Dollars Raised:
Average Dollars Raised (per team member; minimum team size of 10):
Student Group Prizes:
The cash prizes can be directed by the winning groups with a maximum of half of the prize going to local 501(c)(3) freethought organizations and a minimum of half of the prize going to FBB's Ally national freethought groups. A group may choose to give more than half or all of the prize to FBB's national Allies. They may divide the grant among as many groups as they would like.
For example, if the Hitchville Atheist Meetup raises the most money as a team, they will be able to direct $5,000 in grants. They may choose to direct $2,500 to themselves, if they qualify as a public charity, or to a different local group that does qualify. They can direct the other $2,500 to national Ally groups and have it split evenly between two different groups that they are affiliated with. Alternatively, HAM could direct the entire $5,000 to one national Ally freethought group.
All grant prizes will be given in U.S. dollars only to U.S. based freethought organizations that are qualified 501(c)(3) public charities in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service. Freethought organizations can be humanist, atheist, agnostic, skeptic, etc., with FBB reserving the sole right to determine which organizations qualify. National freethought groups only qualify if they are a part of FBB's LLS Ally program.
Home Office Incentive
We are offering a $1,000 PRIZE to the largest fundraising team of an Ally's home office (such as, American Humanist Association's D.C. headquarters). This money will come from a grant from the Foundation Beyond Belief based on a donation from Stiefel Freethought Foundation. This incentive will go to the headquarter that raises the most total dollars during the walk year!
Please note that Home Office teams can compete for overall team awards, but not for student awards.
Online Personality Incentives
In 2013, FBB LTN is offering an incentive program for Online Personalities (e.g., bloggers, podcasters, vloggers, and other online folks) to join the freethought movement in raising money for LLS. Winners will be announced and linked in Foundation Beyond Belief social media, including the FBB blog, twitter, Facebook, and newsletters. Stiefel Freethought is committing $3500 in grants for the top ten Online Personality-led virtual teams to direct to FBB LTN allies (see below):
First place fundraising = $1000 grant
Second = $800
Third = $600
Fourth = $400
Fifth = $200
Sixth - Tenth = $100
The purpose of this program is to give Online Personalities an opportunity to be a part to the FBB-LLS partnership and increase the engagement of freethinkers who can’t participate in a walk. Ideally, this will complement, not compete, with the efforts of local freethought groups to recruit walkers and raise money. Our intention is for Personalities to use their platforms to encourage readers, followers, listeners, and supporters to join in whatever way they can, as leaders of a team, as walkers, or as fundraisers/donors to Online Personality virtual team after walk season has ended.
20% PROMO BONUS
Online Personalities who promote Registration Week and Kickoff Week will receive a 20% bonus when FBB staff tallies the totals to determine the winners. Links to promos should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
To participate, create a team following the registration guide. Online Personality team names should include “Virtual Team-FBB” at the end of the team name. Online Personalities can recruit people to donate and/or join their virtual team and help fundraise. Please wait until November to start teams so that Online Personalities don’t compete with the efforts of local freethought groups.
Online Personality teams do not qualify for local team, student team, or home office incentives. Online Personalities may have an Online Personality team as well as lead or walk in a local team. FBB has sole discretion to determine the difference between a team led by a blogger (with national/international fundraisers) and a local team led by a blogger (with local fundraisers). Multiple contributors to the same blog (e.g., Friendly Atheist) may combine efforts as a team, but blog networks (e.g., Freethought Blogs) must participate as separate blogs. Online personality teams must raise a minimum of $500 to qualify for incentive prizes.
Allies who may be awarded grants:
American Atheists, American Humanist Association, American Ethical Union, Atheist Alliance of America, Camp Quest, Center For Inquiry, Freedom From Religion Foundation, Harvard Humanist Chaplaincy & Alumni, Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers, Secular Student Alliance, Society for Humanistic Judaism, and United Coalition of Reason.
