Foundation Beyond Belief (FBB) is proud to announce that we are a "Special Friend" team partner with The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for their Light The Night Walks. We will be the rallying point around which local freethought, atheist, and secular humanist groups will form teams to participate in Light the Night Walks.

Incentives courtesy of Stiefel Freethought Foundation

Foundation Beyond Belief is striving to raise $500,000 in 2013 for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Light The Night Walk. LLS will provide rewards and recognition directly to individual fundraisers. Thanks to a grant from the Stiefel Freethought Foundation, FBB will be providing incentives to national and local freethought organizations to encourage and thank them for participation in this project. FBB will be awarding recognition plaques to top local teams and $19,000 in reward grants that top local teams will be able to direct to qualifying freethought groups of their choice.

The following local teams that are a part of the FBB international team will each receive an award plaque and be able to direct the indicated cash prize:

Total Dollars Raised:
First Place Team: $5,000
Second Place Team: $2,000
Third Place Team: $1,000

Average Dollars Raised (per team member; minimum team size of 10):
First Place Team: $5,000
Second Place Team: $2,000
Third Place Team: $1,000

Student Group Prizes:
First Place Team in Total Dollars: $1,000
First Place Team in Average Dollars Raised (per team member; minimum team size of 10): $1,000

The cash prizes can be directed by the winning groups with a maximum of half of the prize going to local 501(c)(3) freethought organizations and a minimum of half of the prize going to FBB's Ally national freethought groups. A group may choose to give more than half or all of the prize to FBB's national Allies. They may divide the grant among as many groups as they would like.

For example, if the Hitchville Atheist Meetup raises the most money as a team, they will be able to direct $5,000 in grants. They may choose to direct $2,500 to themselves, if they qualify as a public charity, or to a different local group that does qualify. They can direct the other $2,500 to national Ally groups and have it split evenly between two different groups that they are affiliated with. Alternatively, HAM could direct the entire $5,000 to one national Ally freethought group.

All grant prizes will be given in U.S. dollars only to U.S. based freethought organizations that are qualified 501(c)(3) public charities in good standing with the Internal Revenue Service. Freethought organizations can be humanist, atheist, agnostic, skeptic, etc., with FBB reserving the sole right to determine which organizations qualify. National freethought groups only qualify if they are a part of FBB's LLS Ally program.

Home Office Incentive

We are offering a $1,000 PRIZE to the largest fundraising team of an Ally's home office (such as, American Humanist Association's D.C. headquarters). This money will come from a grant from the Foundation Beyond Belief based on a donation from Stiefel Freethought Foundation. This incentive will go to the headquarter that raises the most total dollars during the walk year!

Please note that Home Office teams can compete for overall team awards, but not for student awards.
